On 24 February, Monil hosted a demonstration day at Great Glen Cattle Ranch in Gelncoe. Monil’s virtual fences offers robust “fenceless” systems to beef and dairy farmers, allowing for more flexible, sustainable, cost-efficient grazing.

Monil’s mission is to revolutionize livestock management through virtual fencing solutions. The technology provides opportunities for better utilization of pasture resources, recycling former infield pastures, and potential cost savings.
Attendees enjoyed a free lunch, followed by a live demonstration showcasing the technology in action. There were engaging discussions, great questions, and a fantastic exchange of ideas on how this innovation can enhance efficiency and sustainability in livestock management.
The host, Paolo Berardelli, said he would buy Monil for a couple of reasons, including the cost of fencing: “The high cost of fencing areas of rough grazing because of large lengths of fence needed per animal.”
He is also motivated to increase biodiversity: “The ability to carry out environmental grazing… to increase biodiversity.”
A big thank you to our hosts and all who participated—the enthusiasm was contagious. Alex Wainwright also attended, sharing his valuable insights and experience with the collars on the Isle of Coll.
