INTELLIGENT FARMING FOR THE FUTURE
THE NATIONAL FARM MANAGEMENT CONFERENCE, 7th NOVEMBER
The Institute of Agricultural Management (IAgrM) has very strong line up of speakers for its flag ship annual conference to be held at the QE II Centre in London on November under the theme of “Intelligent Management for the Future”.
The event is open to both members and non – members alike, Victoria Bywater, the National Director for the leading professional body promoting continuing professional development for those engaged in agricultural, rural, and environmental management in the UK has said and explaining more:
“……with the huge amount of change we are seeing in the UK and international agriculture and food sector, ranging from the impact of climate change, the after effects of both COVID and Brexit and now the situation in the Ukraine and Middle East, the need to develop more resilient and sustainable agri food supply chains, the rise of agri tech and AI business models, changes to the way support payments are made to farmers, disruption to supply chains, as well as changing consumer behaviours, it is clear we are going to need to be able to manage our farms and supply chains even more intelligently than we have done in the past. This is the reason we have chosen the title for this year’s conference”
Amongst our keynote speakers will be Máximo Torero, Chief Economist at the FAO of the UN, Jack Bobo, the Centre Lead and Director of Food Systems Institute at Nottingham University, John Shropshire, the Chairman of the G's Fresh Group, Ed Ford from Dyson Farming, Ken Sloan, the Vice Chancellor at Harper Adams, with other speakers joining us on the day from the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority, Morrisons and Forces Farming, as well as Matt Percy, Vice-President of Business Innovation from John Deere in the US. To finish the day, delegates will hear a hands-on point of view from farmers David Jones from Hatton Bank Farm and sisters Kate and Vicky Morgan from East Yorkshire, on how we manage farms leveraging both high quality people and automation and innovation.
We have always held an annual conference ever since our early days in the mid-1960s. We believe that this year, we possibly have our strongest line up of speakers ever. In the last few years, we have had a very good turnout at this event. We expect that this will be the case again in November. This includes free places to up to 100 students from around the UK, as part of our outreach programme to the Next Generation of farmers and food producers.
We are naturally a bit biased, but if there is one conference people attend towards the end of this year, this should be it. It’s held in a great venue and the cost to attend for members is less than £200.
For an event of this nature, on a topic of such critical importance and with the sheer quality of the line up speakers, we believe that this represents huge value for money. With all the developments taking place in agriculture and food production and markets, the need to be very well informed about what is happening and what some of the solutions might be, has never been stronger. To achieve this is one of our main overriding objectives of the conference”
