Richard Thorogood of Cheshire Hedges is celebrating a string of accolades after yet another win at the Cheshire Ploughing Match last week.
His most recent win brings his total to four podium places - despite this being only his second season of match hedge laying competitions!
His current results are as follows:
Uttoxeter - 1st place
Cheshire - 1st for regrowth
Eccleshall - 2nd place
Cheshire - 3rd place
He also won The Peter Schofield Trophy for the best 12 months growth on a hedge he cut last year.
Competition across the matches is fierce and spread across three classes, Novice, Intermediate and Open depending on competition experience. The aim is to lay a set amount of metres of hedge over many hours. There is no time for tea breaks or chatting with spectators as time is precious during competition.
Richard is now looking forward to the national competitions next month. Good luck from everyone at Team Farmart!
