Job description

The Farming Community Network (FCN) is a voluntary organisation and charity that
aims to improve the health and wellbeing of people in farming and provide support at
times of difficulty and change. Each year the charity supports approximately 10,000
people in the agricultural sector with a wide range of issues – including family
relationship challenges, mental ill-health and managing change.

We are recruiting a part-time Partnerships Officer in the South of England.

You will be part of the FCN central team, helping to develop our corporate partnership
portfolio and fundraising income streams. You will also be delivering internal and
external training, working closely with other colleagues across the charity.

This role will involve frequent travel around the South of England, attending / speaking
at stakeholder meetings, conferences, fundraising events, and delivering training to a
wide range of high-profile businesses and organisations.

It will also include assisting in the delivery of the FCN national fundraising strategy and
identifying future income streams from the wider business community to ensure the
financial sustainability of FCN.

This role will also involve supporting the building of relationships with colleges /
universities / Young Farmers’ Clubs.

Responsibilities

• Key Relationships Internal: Close working relationships with the Senior Partnerships Manager, Finance Manager and other staff team members and volunteers. Conducting ‘train the trainers’ sessions as and when required with in-house team. External: To be an FCN representative attending meetings, events, conferences and giving presentations in person in the South of England. Assisting in the delivery of FCN’s training modules to a wide range of stakeholders. Building relationships with training organisations and delivery partners and working closely with education institutes e.g. colleges and universities. Principal Partnership Tasks: • To build effective and enduring relationships with partners and stakeholders to enable strong working relationships or collaboration. • Nurture existing partnerships and also develop and maintain new ones. • Researching potential partners that meet FCN’s mission and values, developing and presenting proposals, pitches, and partnership agreements to prospective partners. • Assisting the Senior Partnerships Manager in negotiating and finalising partnership agreements, coordinating with stakeholders to ensure successful implementation and delivery of activities. • Assisting in the development of a monitoring and evaluation system to measure the performance and impact of the partnerships. • Providing regular feedback and reports to the partners and FCN, and cultivating positive relationships with partners while seeking opportunities for renewal or expansion. • Attending relevant agricultural shows, events and conferences and speaking on behalf of the charity at engagements. • Working across the wider FCN team including with trust funding consultants and other third party providers. • Assist in the delivery of the FCN National Fundraising Strategy. • Encourage and support local group fundraising initiatives. • Delivery of training modules to a variety of stakeholders in the South of England. • To be part of the creative team for training and development. While this role will evolve and adapt over time, we envision ‘Partnership’ duties will take up approximately 70% of the employee’s time, with ‘Training’ duties taking up the remaining 30%. You will be working under your own initiative for much of the time, and will need a valid, clean driving license and own transport. Mileage expenses are re-imbursed.

Skills

• Essential criteria: • Excellent organisational skills and deadline achievement. • Experience in developing partnership agreements with the business community. • A positive self-starter with a commercial mindset. • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to research, plan and budget • Confidence in public speaking and familiarity and experience of delivering presentations or training. • Strong verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail. • Computer literacy including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, (Word, Excel, & PowerPoint). • Able to work on own initiative while also as a key team member supporting with administrative tasks when required. • Experience in charitable fundraising and working to budgets. Desirable criteria: • Familiarity with working with volunteers. • Farming background or knowledge of the farming community environment. • Undergraduate degree or similar professional level qualification or relevant skills, knowledge and experience to this position.

The salary for this role is £30,000 per annum (pro rata).

*There may be occasions when it is necessary to attend evening or weekend events.
In these cases, compensation will be considered on a case-by-case basis in the form
of time-off in lieu.
