The issues regarding potential changes to Inheritance Tax rules remain a live debate within farming communities across the land. Succession within farming families has for many years been a difficult subject and one which too many farmers have set aside for another day!
The Farmer Network, a not-for-profit farmer support organization, has banged the drum over many years about the importance of discussion within farming families and the need to plan for the future. Now with the tax announcements made in the budget last October, these issues are very much to the fore.
With support from The Defra Welfare Fund, The Yorkshire Dales Farmer Network is to host an open meeting for farmers at Wensleydale Rugby Club, Leyburn, DL8 5ED on Tuesday 25th February commencing at 7pm. Supporting the network at the meeting will be succession guru Heather Wildman of Saviour Associates who will lead a discussion on what she refers to as “the elephant in the room”.
Richard Hall, Walter Dawson & Associates, Chartered Accountants will give an update on the proposed IHT rule changes and consider potential solutions for farmers.
Farmer Network project manager Carol Moffat says “Our meetings give farmers the chance to listen to speakers giving the most up to date information we have, to ask questions and in some cases share their own experiences. I hope that many farming families will attend, even just to start the thought process on a challenging but very current subject”.
Supper will be provided for all those attending and therefore places at the meeting must be booked in advance by Thursday 20th February. Contact Head Office on 01768868615
