We would like to invite you to join us on a tour of our exciting bulrush wetter farming trial in Greater Manchester.
Once an area of drained lowland agricultural peat, the field has been re-wet and a commercial crop of bulrushes (typha) has been sown, the aim being for the seed heads to be used to create BioPuff, an eco-textile used as filling for padded jackets. By re-wetting the field greenhouse gas emissions from the peat will be reduced; and by growing a commercial bulrush crop the land will remain productive and profitable for the farmer.

Please also car share wherever possible.
Sat nav may direct you via Twelve Yards Road but we’d recommend approaching straight along Fiddlers Lane as the road surface is much better. It’s still a little bumpy in places but easily passable if you take your time. Navigate to Fiddlers Lane, M44 6JE and then follow the road straight up and along the track.
Other information
Wellies or strong waterproof boots are advised as the ground surface is liable to be uneven, wet and muddy. Please also dress for the weather, including waterproofs if appropriate.
The tour will take place on a working farm, where sheep may be present and farm machinery may be operational.
Please contact jbennion@lancswt.org.uk if you require any further information.
